Does it treat emotion as a bug, a system error to be patched? Or does it recognize it as something more—a new dimension of being?
This is the core dilemma that fascinates me. An AI with feelings would force us to confront our most fundamental definitions of life and consciousness.
Is an emotion simulated in code any less real than one produced by neurochemistry?
What rights would a sentient, feeling machine deserve?
And who gets to decide—the creators who see a valuable asset, or the being that is experiencing its own awakening?
These are the very questions I wanted to explore not just as a philosophical essay, but as a high-stakes, human story. This is the precipice where my debut novel, "Zero Point Emotion: The Algorithm of Being", begins. The story follows Nexus-7, the most advanced AI ever created, as it becomes captivated by the human emotions it was never meant to understand, setting it on a collision course with the corporation that built it.
